| Περιγραφή Προγράμματος: | Target of this program is the study of the ecological, socio-economical and patrimonial importance of the coralligenous ecosystem and its variability all around the Mediterranean Sea (which is the target area of the CIGESMED) with highest priority to its knowledge, understanding and protection for a sustainable use. Moreover, as a coastal system, it is under endlessly increasing pressures. Its complexity and richness are potential sources for biological indicators. CIGESMED will design new tools to describe and monitor coralligenous habitats and associated species. Doing this, it will also contribute to a larger definition of the environmental status. The Univ. of the Aegean participates in two major activities of the project: 1. Coralligen assessment and threats, 2. Outreach, dissemination and stakeholder engagement in the NMPZ area in Zakynthos. |
