| Περιγραφή Προγράμματος: | The general objective of the project is to support stronger protection of, and reduced risk to the landscape heritage through introduction of an integrative landscape character assessment (LCA) framework for enhanced territorial planning & conservation decision-making .More specific the project aims to Develop and apply a best-practice methodology for LCA and landscape recording in pilot areas, and to promote the results as a tool for sustainable landuse decision-making and landscape-scale protection of the natural and cultural heritage in the East Mediterranean context.
The main results are:
1. Fully tested regionally-adapted methodology for LCA and mapping, described in a written report.
2. A cadre of trained LCA practitioners in each partner organisation.
3. Landscape character typologies and finished maps at 1:50000 scale, in paper and electronic form, for the whole of Cyprus and pilot areas of Lebanon, Jordan and Greece plus assessment of landscape condition and sensitivity in those areas.
4. A model approach for community participation in landscape-scale nature protection.
5. A risk-modelling software package for landuse decision-making,
