| Περιγραφή Προγράμματος: | The scope of this project (Task 1 of Phase B) is to study the decision making behavior of freight forwarders and shippers, currently using the terminal to receive their shipments, and to collect innovative revealed and stated preference data to develop time-of-day and Dwell Time (DT) models.
A survey instrument, addressed to shippers and freight forwarders, has already been developed by the research team. Personal interviews will be conducted to ten (10) to twenty (20) clients with the most frequent shipments in the terminals of Beirut and KAP. In the last part of the questionnaire innovative stated preference data will be collected. Respondents will be given two experiments. In the first experiment respondents are asked to choose the DT of a container between three alternative choice sets that are a function of the following attributes: 1) the total trip time to the terminal 2) the time-window for delivery to the client 3) if the terminal operates 24hours 4) if penalties are charged for late deliveries and 5) the terminal storage fees. In the second experiment respondents are asked choose the time-of-day they would dispatch a truck for a pick-up depending on attributes such as cost, possibility of late delivery or damage, etc.
