| Περιγραφή Προγράμματος: | The objective of the project is to contribute towards the protection and conservation of marine biodiversity, in the framework of marine spatial planning in the Aegean Sea. The main deliverable of the project will be a proposed network of marine protected areas and protection zones, for the conservation of all important and sensitive habitats and protected species, as defined by national and international legislation and the international agreements signed by Greece (such as the Habitats Directivem the Birds Directive, Bern Convsention, Bonn Convention, Barcelona Convention). Beyond the main deliverable, a large amount of information on the spatial distribution of marine habitats and species will be collected, constributing to the knowledge base needed for the implementation of the Habitats Directive and the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. |
