| Περιγραφή Προγράμματος: | PORTOPIA is a strategic project, under the FP7, for the European port industry. The aim of the project is to develop a holistic framework for the measurement of performance indicators with the active participation of the major port stakeholders (port authorities, shipping companies, terminal operators, logistics and intermodal companies) as well as the associations representing them at European level.
The project is the continuation of the PPRISM project (2010-2011) which concluded in the publication of the first European Port Performance Dashboard. PORTOPIA is the next step to this effort with the main outcome being the development of a European Port Observatory which will be the reference point regarding port performance measurement in the EU. Towards this goal, PORTOPIA will:
* Develop a set of port performance indicators, taking into account several aspects of a port (financial, governance etc), as well as an ICT-based tool for their measurement (with the necessary methodological background).
* Increase the awareness and will bring in the research the port authorities as well as the port stakeholders. This will allow a achievement of a holistic approach towards port performance indicators development and measurement.
* Pay attention to the port users as a major component of the industry, through the measurement of their quality perception from a port.
* Disseminate the importance of port performance as a crucial element in ports operation, policy formation and industries strategy in the European Union.
* Create linkages with related EU projects in order to maximize the benefits of co-operation.
* Set up a sustainable and self-supporting European Port Observatory (EPO) for the measurement, benchmarking and supervision of ports performance.
