| Περιγραφή Προγράμματος: | Main project objectives include:
(i) assessment of present and future coastal erosion trends in selected beaches from 6 Aegean Archipelago islands (Lesvos, Chios, Thira, Kalymnos, Agathonisi and Chaiki) through archived and new (to be collected within the framework of the Project) morphological information, and coastal morphodynamic modelling that will be based on accurate morphological/sedimentological information and forced by wave conditions estimated from local wind and/or wave data
(ii) design of coastal protection schemes for the selected beaches under different scenarios of sea level rise and extreme events, which will be environmentally and aesthetically sustainable and have acceptable cost/benefit ratios and (iii) development of a coastal erosion management protocol for the touristic beaches of the Aegean Archipelago islands, on the basis of the Project results. |
